CitySchools Collaborative Expands Coalition of High-Impact Tutoring Providers to 22 Partners Across DC

Washington, D.C., September 25, 2025 — CitySchools Collaborative (CSC) is excited to announce its 22 partners delivering High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) across the District of Columbia in the 2025–26 school year. With 12 tutoring providers and 10 local education agencies (LEAs) providing staff-led implementations, today’s announcement represents CSC’s largest coordinated effort to embed high-impact tutoring into schools and accelerate learning, especially for students furthest from opportunity.

High-impact, or “high-dosage,” tutoring is backed by research proving that consistent, personalized instruction (at least 90 minutes a week for at least 10 weeks) helps students catch up faster, re-engage in learning, and boost confidence and attendance at school. Last year, nearly 6,000 students in CSC-funded programs logged more than 140,000 hours across 92 schools, representing a 10% increase in student reach and a 14% increase in dosage over previous years. In math, tutored students grew in their goals 138% faster than their peers, the equivalent of nearly 60 extra classroom days.

To build on that momentum, CSC led a robust Request for Proposals (RFP) process and selected 22 providers and LEAs with proven records of success and a commitment to national standards to expand and deepen HIT’s reach across DC public and public charter schools. This year’s programming places a stronger focus on math acceleration while sustaining the classroom alignment and trusted student–tutor relationships proven to drive results. CSC support will provide partners with curriculum resources, training, and data support so every program meets the dosage and quality for the greatest impact.

Today’s announcement lands on Math Storytelling Day, which celebrates the ways math shows up in everyday problem-solving, play, and learning. The story of HIT has been consistent, with year-over-year positive gains toward closing the achievement gap in math for students across the District. With more focus on math and the partners to support the effort, CSC anticipates helping DC stay on its trajectory as the fastest-growing urban district, and even speeding up in the year ahead.

“We’re doubling down on math tutoring. Expanding our partnerships means more students in more schools get the consistent, high-quality support they need,” said Deidra Bailey, CSC’s Senior Director of Program Implementation. “What excites me is the growth we’re going to see. We know HIT works, and now, with such a strong coalition of providers and LEAs leading this effort, I’m confident we’ll see even greater results for students this year.”

“We want tutoring to be a part of how schools work, for every student,” said Gina Burd, CSC’s Director of Partnerships & Advancement. “It’s why we embed it into the school day, and bolster it with strong school-provider partnerships. Each year, as we expand this coalition, we’re focused on the long-term vision we have for school and student success.”

This year’s coalition also welcomes first-time partners, Braintrust, Eurekii, Harmony DC Public Charter School (PCS), and Washington Global PCS, each weaving tutoring into the school day with a focus on math acceleration. This growth supports CSC’s ambitious and coordinated effort to continue to uplift DC as a national model for math learning. With its largest partner network to date, and a proven record of impact, CSC and this year’s HIT providers are setting the standard for high-impact tutoring in schools and expanding the opportunity for every student to succeed across DC.
