Sophia is CitySchools Collaborative’s newest innovation in math learning, powered by generative AI and rooted in our high-quality curricular resources. Sophia helps students succeed in math, where proficiency nationwide remains far too low. Leveraging CSC’s proprietary curriculum, Sophia provides real-time coaching for tutors and novice educators, strengthening teaching, improving preparation for lessons, and deepening content knowledge.

We support the growing body of tutors and novice teachers to strengthen math instruction through Sophia, our generative AI tool for lesson preparation, tutorial prompts, and post-lesson reflection. Sophia provides real-time coaching and personalized support to strengthen tutor skills, deepen content knowledge, and improve math instruction.
With Sophia, tutors:
- Internalize lessons deeply with concise lesson overviews, a discussion of common student misconceptions, and culturally responsive strategies aligned to each tutor’s needs for their students.
- Plan for student needs with quick action buttons to help tutors differentiate instruction.

2025-2026 Pilot
During its pilot year in 2025-2026, we will evaluate Sophia and refine responses using our expertise in tutoring and human-centered coaching. The pilot will take place in Richmond Public Schools in partnership with EduTutorVA, and it will be supported by NewSchools Venture Fund, LeanLab Education, and the Learning Agency.
