Calling All Tutors: Tutor-to-Teacher Applications Now Open for 2025-26

Promotional graphic for the CitySchools Collaborative 2025-26 Tutor-to-Teacher Program, announcing that applications are open through October 23, 2025.

CitySchools Collaborative is proud to announce that applications are now open for the second year of the Tutor-to-Teacher Program, an education workforce development program designed to help today’s tutors become tomorrow’s teachers. In partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and supported by the Center for Black Educator Development, the Tutor-to-Teacher Program is part of a citywide effort to recruit, develop, and retain a more representative teaching force for DC students.

As a tutor, you already play a critical role in the classroom and know what it takes to support students. The Tutor-to-Teacher Program will provide you with mentorship, training, and networking opportunities to prepare you to lead your own classrooms and further shape the futures of DC students.

What You’ll Get

  • Professional Learning: Monthly learning sessions and bimonthly mentoring, hybrid (virtual + in-person, DC-based).
  • Mentorship: Guidance and valuable insight into the teaching profession from an experienced DC teacher.
  • Connections: Networking with peers, mentors, and program staff, plus direct support for local residency and apprenticeship program applications.
  • Compensation: A $1,200 award upon successful completion of the program.
